Is there anything Slash can’t do? Apparently not. Traxxas must have decided a long time ago that the Slash line would be one of the most fun lines of rc 4x4s ever. And they’ve kept the promise with the Slash 4X4 Brushless RTR with 2.4GHz Radio. This car is absolutely amazing. You take it out of the box, charge the battery and off it goes. Wheel Spinning Fun with the Traxxas Slash 2WD RTR Electric Race Truck!

My thirteen-year-old nephew is at that age where peers are far more important than parents, and kids are seeking more grown-up stuff in order to impress their peers. Now, he’s a Cars kid – as most boys are – but somehow Cars just seems extra special for him. It’s been a few years since Cars came out, but even though he’s starting to feel a bit embarrassed about it, it still hasn’t lost its magic for him. So I thought it would be nice to get him into remote control because it’s a wholesome, educational, really great grown-up hobby that develops a range of useful skills and lasts a lifetime.

The Traxxas XL-5 ESC Stampede is An Electric Mean Machine!

There are RC trucks, and then there are RC trucks. Don’t get me wrong, I think pavement racing is great, but sometimes it’s just too – what’s the word? Civilized. Half of the fun of RC is that you get to control every aspect of your vehicle, all the way from its creation to its ultimate destruction, and to be honest, destruction is just more fun. Plus after destroying something, you get to repair (or rebuild) it.

Traxxas is a huge name in RC, and I’d heard great things about their trucks, so I checked out the Traxxas Stampede XL-5 ESC RTR Electric Monster Truck . Let me tell you, this is one impressive truck. RC fans just love it, and it’s a really great all-around truck that’ll practically fly on pavement and absolutely kill in the dirt.

The Genesis Super Truck 7.7 Nitro Monster Truck – A Whole Lot of Grunt!

You’ve probably had an electric RC vehicle at some point in your life, but nitro RC vehicles are a whole other story. The complexity of driving and maintaining a nitro is miles ahead of doing so with an electric. Not that that’s bad! Nitro vehicles can produce a lot more bang than electrics. They’re not so much about speed as power – power to climb, crush, and destroy.

CEN, the manufacturer, claims that the Genesis Super Truck 7.7 RTR is the biggest, strongest, and most powerful in a lot of categories. I believe them, too. The GSO 7.7 RTR is massive. If I were a small animal and this thing was coming for me, I would probably piss my furry little pants! The problem, though, is that biggest and strongest isn’t always the best. Sometimes, especially when it comes to maintenance, ease of use, and enjoyment, biggest and strongest can be the worst.

The Traxxas Stampede VXL RTR Beastie!

You want to get into RC, but where do you start? There are lots of entry-level models targeted toward the absolute beginner that offer easy control and decent performance right out of the box, and that you may or may not be able to upgrade further down the line. If you’re pretty handy with mechanical things, though, or you’ve already done some RC in the past, you might want to skip a level and get in on the 2nd floor.

Remote control trucks might be the most awesome toys ever. Girls and boys and kids and grown-ups alike indulge in this fascinating hobby that mixes adrenaline, skill, engineering, and creativity into an interest that will last for years and years. The best part about RC is that it’s truly skill-based, and it appeals to all sorts of intelligences. The difficult part about RC is knowing where to get started. Start with something too easy, and it gets boring. Start with something too challenging, and it gets frustrating.
